Default PC questions

I'm looking at picking up a Porter Cable.

Can you guys give me an idea on what pads are used for what?

Any user tips would be greatly appreciated, I'd hate to strip the paint off the car.. lol

Wow, all the info that quickly? My recommendation is the Lake Country CCS pads with Lake Country's Flexible backing plate. Try a 5" backing plate with the 6.5" pads to start. Pick up at least a white and a grey or blue.

Thanks...

I have skimmed the info pretty quick, I had a pretty good idea.

I have to run out and pick up a few more things.

Clay bar, and polish. These were the only 2 things missing from my supply. I was more curious on the order in using them.

The yellow pads are for aggressive cutting power that is required on oxidized surfaces or light scratches. The orange pad is the workhorse of the group. It is used for most of the polishes. The white pad has no cutting capabilities and is good for final polishes and glazes. The Gray pad is used for applying waxes and glazes. The blue pad is a finesse pad and used for waxes.

Rule of thumb is to start with the least aggressive pad and polish first. If that doesn't work, use a more abrasive polish/compound, then move to a aggressive pad.
