Default Best thing to remove gunk?

I just took the emblems off a panel, but have to place them on the new panel on my ride. I want to clean the panel thats off my car now and remove the gunk thats on it, plus the gunk inside the emblems. What is the best thing to use that wont damage the paint on the panel and the finish on my emblems?

On the emblems I just used goo gone, also used it to remove some of the residual adhesive that was left on the paint

Another choice is 3M Adhesive & Wax remover.

Some Wal-Marts carry it, as well as auto body / paint supply stores.

do you know what i should just to put back on the emblems? my experience in the past with double sided tape has been bad. I had to use it to put moldings back on my bumper. maybe the double sided tape i was using was already bad?

Use the "moulding double sided tape" by 3M. Wallyworld carries it. $ 5 per roll. Tough tape! Can withstand low and high temps.

The 3M molding tape is the OEM for most cars. It is clearly for automotive use.
