Tutorial: DIY "Black Pearl" style Emblems

Digging up a super old thread here but I’m trying to do my emblems on my GX. I’m tired of the ugly plastidip. Has anyone used Duplicolor Shadow Chrome spray paint instead of this Tamiya paint? Is it essentially the same thing? Also for those of you who used this tamiya paint on your plastic grilles, how have they held up?
It ends up turning the letter black. There is no way that I could get it to look "shiny dark chrome". This paint was doing a weird thing of barely laying down, and then when it would lay, if you did slightly too much, it would take the paint off the edges. It was sort of a cool look. Black letters but the entire outline was still silver. Here's the final look though, just looks like shiny black paint honestly.
I'm not putting the letters back on my RCF, it looks so much better without the two little RC , and just the F badge. If people don't know what car it is, looking at a letter "F" is going to confuse the hell out of people...lol

You can get the black chrome look with VHT Night Shade paint.
