Default How to get rid of shiny dash?

Hello CL.

I got my car detailed yesterday and I forgot to tell them not to apply anything on my dash. Now the dash on my IS250 is really shiney on the pebble grain and real slick, oily look on the smooth surface. I hate how the dash reflects on the windshield when driving during the daytime, it get's annoying and pretty difficult to ignore.

I tried wiping it several times with a damp cloth but it was no use. It's still as shiny as it ever was. What can I do to get rid of these? Any help is appreciated.

Try using a vinyl cleaner to dilute the dash dressing. You could resort to water with a tad bit of vinegar to solve you problem too.

Try Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer. It will remove that glossy look returning it back to a very low sheen. Still provides UV protection. It's what I switched to since I, too, cannot stand that glare from greasy, shiny products.

If you want a little more sheen, follow up with their Natural shine rubber and vinyl protectant.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try and visit PepBoys later and see what I can find.

I'm interested in where you found out the Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer provides UV protection. When I called the Meguiars tech support, they told me the Quick Interior Detailer product did NOT provide UV protection. So I only use this product to clean my interior and use Optimum Protectant Plus to provide UV protection.

See this from Meguiar's Mike Pennington.

http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/post/20805.aspx

piku:
I exclusively use quick interior detailer in my car's interior plastics. Does this product offer any UV protection to the interior plastic?

There is no mention of this on Meg's product description in the bottle or the website. However, ADS website says the following: "Nano chemistry offers the maximum UVA/UVB protection, which helps prevent fading and cracking." Anyone know?

Thanks.

Yes, there is some amount of UVA / UVB protection in both Quik Interior Detailer Spray and Quik Interior Detailer Wipes.

When I put Armor-All on my dash, I follow up with a microfiber cloth and that helps get rid of the greasy look on my dash.
