Default What paint sealant/wax can be used on rims?

I am planning to give my car a cleaning if weather permits. I was wondering what can I use to protect my stock alloy wheels after cleaning it. I may go the Meguiar NXT route. Can I use that? Thanks

Yup, you take care of your rims the same way you take care of your paint. Nothing different. After cleaning, I've used wheel sealant (only because I had it) and found that brake dust is alot easier to remove. Doesn't really repel, but at least its easier to remove.

Try Poorboys Wheel Sealant. 2 coats and the brake dust etc finds it hard to stick. Autoglym also have a similar spray on type product but you really need to shield the brake discs from the spray

I use NXT on the wheels along with weekly applications of Meguiar's Wheel Detailer. The Wheel Detailer is very slick. Spray it on an old MF and apply.

Thanks all. I'll probably use actual wheel products later but I just want to put something on for now to hold me off. So, if using NXT liquid wax on the rims, how do I apply it. Do I wait for it to haze like applying it on the paint and then buffing it out?

That is exactly what you do.

i would use any good polymer wax on your wheels it will help with the wax breaking down due to the heat

Wheels get hot, so it's more efficient to use a sealant rather than a wax on wheels. Also note that using any sort of wheel acid/cleaner will strip sealant and wax, so if you're keeping your wheels waxed, chean them with soap and water (or rewax after cleaning).

My friend swears by using rejex on his wheels. I haven't had time to give it a try, but according to him, it makes cleaning brake dust a lot easier.

Thx .. I'll check out that Rejex stuff also. I tried NXT but I don't know maybe I didn't put enough because washing the brake dust afterwards wasn't as easy as I would have thought with a sealant type product on it.
