Default Is it possible the tinter scratched my window?

Well, i got my tint put on this past weekend. Everything looks good to me at the time. On christmas, i noticed a scratch in on the rear left window. I took it to the tint guy to replace the tint and come to find out it is a scratch on the window. Its possible that it was there before the tint, but is it also possible that the tint guy scratched it? its about 8 inches long straight across and you can feel it with your fingernail. My car is 30days old, and if it was there before the tint, would Lexus replace my window under warranty?

It is possible the scratch was there before the tint (Less likely), and it is possible the scratch was made by the tinter (More likely), but unfortunately for you are not sure so it is a he said she said thing with no proof. Lexus probably wont warranty it because you have tint and they will blame the tinter. The Tinter will probably say it was already there and since you yourself are unsure have no proof. Good luck either way. I wont take it back to the tinter and maybe he will man up to it, but I doubt it because replacing that rear window will cost a lot.

post a picture of it. If its straight along the dots by the top/side/bottom, I would guess he didn't break his razor blade enough. A dull knife will drag and etch the glass.

I'll take a picture of it when i get a chance. The scratch is on the left rear and not the actual rear. And its 2 scratches. Its about 4 inched up from the felt lining. its starts about 2 away from the left side and is 4-5inches then stops and starts again about an inch or two later for another 3inches. i took it to the dealership tonight, but the manager wasn't there so i'll have to go back tomorrow morning for him to determine if they will warranty it
