Default Power washer yes or no?

Is it a good idea to use a power washer on your Lexus? Is there one that comes with a water softener built in? Thanks.

The only place I've ever used a power washer on my Lexus is in the fender wells and on the tires. It cleans up these areas pretty well. I choose not to use it on the paint for two reasons, One, if you spray over a rock chip with enough force it could flake off some surrounding paint. Secondly, I don't want to force any grit that is sitting on the paint to scratch the paint. I think my power washer is way too harsh to use on the paint but I'm maybe just a bit paranoid.

I havent gone back to using the hose since I got my pressure washer. Mine is 2400psi, adjustable. Use the widest nozzle and dont get close to the paint. The psi is greatly reduced a few feet from the end of the nozzle. It will not hurt your paint.

Obviously it is a function of the operator.
When I purchased my '06 Ram Megacab new, I noticed the rubber weatherstrip around the windshield looked as though a rough steel cable had been dragged across a small section, resulting in a nasty gash.
When I pointed it out to the service manager, he said the boys using the power washer may have brought the nozzle too close to the rubber and tore it up.
As with everything- it's a matter of how careful you are.
One mistake can be a very ugly thing.
