Ultima Paint Guard Plus?
#16
i guess i am using the product wrong. it sounds really good but it seems like i am not getting the hang of it. i have a black car and like the streak marks never went away. they actually stained my paint and was a *****hh to get off.. i only used 20 sprays for the whole entire car as well....
how many sprays are u suppose to use like a spray for each piece??
if some can explain me the best way of using it?
thanks

I love UPGP. Dawn doesn't even strip it off thoroughly so you know it's durable. And if you're streaking, you're using too much. I use one spray per panel. Only exception is two for the hood and roof so no more than 15 sprays.
Here's real world results on my car with PGP (I did use DWG with it though)
More pics and details can be found in this Autopia thread

I really like UPGP as well. It is easy but you have to apply very very little. I've found the best applicator is the "brick" that comes with UPGP. In the past year I've put several coats on my ES and the bottle still looks full.

Ultimata Paint Guard Plus is AWESOME
I can tell you from someone that is new to detailing but have received alot of help from forums like this...the UPGP is awesome. Yes the 4 oz spray is $35 from autopiacarcare.com but it is so easy to apply and the results is awesome! I also have the P21S-100% and it is also good but for the time it takes with UPGP (10 minutes) and the results...it is what I plan to use for a long time.

Not to beat a dead horse but one more "how to apply" question.
I assume you go in horizontal strokes for each section.????
do you try NOT to overlap as you work your way down to the bottom of the panel section you are working on??
thanks--going to wash, clay, polish and us UPGP next week when I pick up my ES350.

I beta tested the Ultima line before it actually went to market and I actually liked the beta version more than what they ended up releasing. Overall the Ultima line is a very good product and my favorite out of the line-up is the Tire & Trim Guard - Nothing else on the market like it.
For maximum durability, Paint Prep Plus should be used to clean/prep the surface for the UPGP.
The best way to apply UPGP is to prime the included applicator on initial use then one spray per panel afterwards. I wipe in the direction of the wind and overlap my strokes. The key is to use very little product to avoid streaking. Then do NOT touch it for an hour and let it cure for 12-24 hours before applying another coat.

I have both the Ultima product and Opti Seal. IMO both are great products. It simply doesn't get any easier to use since I can do my GS400 in less than 5 minutes with either product. It is so easy that you can't believe they will actually last several months.....I don't know exactly how long they will last because I can't help but reapplying every few months.
Some have complained of streaking problems with the Opti Seal on darker colors but I have not experienced any problems. I will probably stick with OptiSeal for the future but it is mainly because I use Optimum products more and more exclusively. The rinseless wash (ONR), the polishes, the instant detailer (OID), and even the spray wax are, IMHO, all excellent products that offer great value.

Well I got my ES350 and the weather in CT finally cooperated long enough to do the following:
wash the car with Dawn
Use clay on the car
Dried the car
Applied Optima paint polish
Applied Optima Paint guard plus
Did the windows, inside and out and applied Rainex
Treated the dash and waxed the wood
Car looks amazing.
thanks for all the help.
