Default Polishing tommorow -- Need help determing what NOT to polish.

**Note: Is a copy from Autopia**

I basically need to know what is safe to polish on this car, and what isn't. What dictates trim?

If I didn't ask, I would polish all painted surfaces, but when someone mentions 'trim' that includes painted surfaces. So which do I avoid?

In the following post, I mention the front bumper, which is of a different material than the rest of the vehicle, as is the rear bumper. What about the areas beneath the doors?

Just a little question on 'trim' .. plastics and whatnot.

I'm sure you guys are familiar with the Lexus LS 400 series of cars.. this is a 1994.

Here is a shot of the front bumper/grill.

I thought I could polish that bumper, all of it, top to bottom (aside from grill of course) -- But I'm thinking twice about it now. Should I tape it off now?

The rear is similar material so no point in posting that picture.

Thanks,

Don't polish the newly painted areas, any raised panels/mouldings (washer nozzles)....and anything not painted.

Yup -- spamming away

I had a panel near the pass front wheel well painted, and one panel on the rear bumper.. The paint represents a small fraction of the car.

Yes, thanks for the tip -- But I'm well beyond that point. No polish or wax for that matter is going on any new paint.

I've been told not to polish the washer nozzles.. though I've seen it done without a problem. I do not plan on it though.

Can you be specific on what not to polish? Not polishing non-painted surfaces is a no-brainer ,..

I'm interested in the front bumper (which extends from ground to the grill) -- The side skirt panels, and the rear bumper (extends from license plate to ground) Can any, or all of that be polished?

Thanks

I did the bumpers on my ES. Worked out nicely for me except for the dying clearcoat parts(made them a bit darker/lighter). Don't really care since it smoothed it out for me lol. Gets me to my repaint faster I suppose
