To wax and polish again after 2 months?
So I took my car in for detailing: clay wax, buffing, polishing and wash of course in mid february. result was not good, have more swirls than before. what I liked is the increase in shine.. that's all. I considered it's a failed job coz the swirls did not go away.
I;'m thinking of sending the car in for detailing again. Now it's mid april. 2 months have passed. gonna send it to a professional detailer.
is it safe only after 2 months that I do another polish, wax, and buff?
Any downside?
Please advise

Did they actually buff your car out the first time?
I'm not sure how a detailer can call themselves a detailer when they cannot buff out scratches, and charge people for it?
Make sure the next detailer knows what they are doing. Every buff/polishing removes clear coat, and when you remove too much, theres nothing you can do.
They should have a paint gauge to measure how much paint is on the car.

There is no downside to re-doing the car properly. By the sounds of it, there was no correction done to the car at all. So you don't have to worry about clearcoat removal. You basically got an expensive wash & wax.
When you get the detail done properly, make sure you pay after the job is done and inspect it in the sun, not in an enclosed garage bay. You'll be able to see any imperfections, if any, that were missed. Ask for referrals and call them to confirm the quality of work.

I make my clients look over the car. If it's inclement or dark I use some Halogen lights and go around the vehicle with the owner. I ask him if he is satisfied with the detail. I usually take a couple shots of the vehicle under harsh lighting that would show the absence of swirls. That said, a couple of tunnel washes will undo all the work I have done. Not suggesting that is what happened here but most swirls come from improper washing and drying. You need to be sure that after two months the swirls were not introduced back into the paint by poor maintenance techniques. If you are not satisfied, the time to speak up is when you pick up the vehicle, not two months later.
To answer your question, detailing every two months should not cause any issues if your paint is new or like new unless you are significantly marring the paint every two months.
A paint thickness gauge is a must and any professional detailer without one is suspect IMHO. These are getting very inexpensive.
