Infiniti Scratch Shield Self Healing Clearcoat?
Have been reading a little about the new clearcoat system Infiniti is putting on some of their cars (EX, M?).
New clearcoat is supposed to be "self healing" over time, eliminating the light scratch marks that plague our dark paints.
Heal time varies, dependent on the ambient temperature it is exposed to.
The clearcoat seems to be superelastic, allowing it to stretch back to normal if scratched...thus eliminating the scratch.
Anyone have any experience with this alleged life saver? If a deeper scratch occurs, I wonder how well it can be buffed out...in other words how does it take to buffing compounds, etc.
If this works as advertised, seems that Lexus is behind the ball?

I haven't read anything about it personally, but I would like to know more about it. I think you are the second person I have heard talk about this.
I would think that if the factory puts it on the car, anything you do to it with polishes or compounds would void the paint warranty if damage occurs.
