Zaino. Trust ME.

Here's some crappy pics of Zaino on 10 year old GM paint. Imagine how nice it'll be on new lexus paint.

I've been true to Meguiars, but I think I'll give Zaino a whirl since it seems to be the rave. Anyone know how long to wait in between waxes?...(is waxing every two months bad for your car?).

wash your car dry it. then run your hands around the car if it feels like sand paper then you need to clay it.

Use Zaino if you can afford it. Its a lot more expensive than Meguiars. I use Zaino on 'special occasions' only...just because it costs an arm and a leg on top of high gas prices

Trying new products is always a lot of fun. It is also a great opportunity to pit one product against another. Why not put the product you are currently using on one half of the hood and the new product you are trying on the other and take some pictures. I know everyone here would love to see the comparison.

If you can, shoot some pics of the hood in the sun after you finish and then again after a few washings and see which holds up better.

Clay bar takes away contaminants in the paint. I don't know about oxidation but it made no dent on my 12 year old Lex. I had to machine polish to get that out. Its recommended to clay a new car then seal it for protection because you never know if the dealer waxed it or not

Edit:
Zymol is what I use. Currently testing out Zymol Creme but next purchase will be Glasur . I like how you can apply and how it looks when you're done

It is very easy to tell if you need to clay. Wash your car and dry it. With your finger tips, gently draw them across the hood and if it doesn't feel glass-like smooth you should clay. Often new cars are contaminated with rail dust and new cars that have sat on a lot will also likely need claying. Just because the car is new is not a reason to assume it doesn't need clay.

Oxidation will quickly foul clay. If you have car that is heavily oxidized you should use a paint cleaner first to remove the oxidation, then clay. Clay will remove some oxidation but it is just not the right tool to do this.
