Default How long to wait before waxing?

I’m a proud owner of a new Toreador Red IS 250 that I picked up on Saturday. I’ m dieing to get a good coat of wax on it, either NXT or Zaino but I’m wondering how long must I wait? The built date appears to be in March.

You should wait AT LEAST 30 days after the build date. I just got my 300ZX painted and they told me not to even wash the car for three weeks, and wait 60 days before putting on a coat of wax. However, they said if I just couldn't wait to wax it, to make sure that I wait a minimum of 30 days. HOWEVER, Lexus paint is a lot better than what I got, but i would still wait until the end of the month.

The traditional rule is one month from painting to allow the paint to cure. Since our cars have taken about a month or more to arrive to the US from final assembly, you will be fine. I always waxed new cars the weekend I bought them. For humor sake, I waxed my 250 two hours after arriving home from the dealer. I love the wet look and also the protection barrier. Congrats on the new ride.

Wax on - wax off. Go for it! What are you waiting for?

Well it looks like I have something to do this weekend! Now I need to figure out what to use. I don't know if i want to go the Zaino route or not. Zaino is a lot work. I use it on my Miata but that car is so small it's not too bad.

I have had the best succes with using the Zymol Cleaner Wax. you can obtain it at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. It is usually $13. Below is what it looks like. Plus, it smells very good!!

Zaino FTW!

It takes longer the first time. Then you'll spend a lot -less- time in keeping it clean in the future.

Zaino isn't a wax by the way, that's part of why it lasts so much longer.

I may go ahead & do the Zaino. Like I said earlier I do my 2001 Crystal Blue Miata & it still looks great. I tried it on my silver TL and it didn't look all that great. I'm thinking the Toreador Red might look great with 7 or 8 coats on it. Does anyone know if its worth claying a brand new car?

clay baring takes off all the oxidation on ur clear so you dont need to clay bar a new car. i waxed my car a few days after i got it only because i was too lazy to do it right away

Greg, just wax it on NOW!!! lol...it is safe to do so since the car takes usually more than a month to get here...

Btw, clay bar the new car please before waxing it...there are contaminants and chemicals use to protect the car's paint when being shipped...

+1.... unless you see it come off the boat, it's sat long enough to get waxed... I just waxed mine again while typing this
