Removing painted on efffing initials from doors
I am trying to find a method of removing painted on initials from my sc300. It looks like they were put on back in the late 90's when the car was new. It also looks like they were clearcoated over. I tried lightly wetsanding with 2000grit and then buffing and it did nothing. Any help would be appreciated before I have to change my name to match the initials from the previous owner.

If in fact they were clearcoated over, then you've got to make a decision.
Keep sanding and HOPE you don't go through to basecolor.
Or...have the area of the initials sanded, spotted with basecolor to cover them, and re-cleared (may have to clear the entire door).
Does it look like the door was resprayed entirely?

what color are the letters? If the sanding dust is white that usually means clear coat. If it is the same color as the letters there should be no clear.
Oh yeah, get us some pics!
