Something stuck on my paint and I can't clean it off! Help
I need to ask a noob question. I was washing my car today and noticed there was a harden dirty spot. I tried to wipe it off with regular carwash shampoo, dedailer, polisher, all no luck ...No idea what it was (look like something sticked on and got melted) but that damn thing is not comming of off my paint. What should I do/use to clean it off?

it could be tar, I had caught some flying on the freeway before but I wiped it off before it dried. I know they have tar/bug/sap remover at walmart/target etc. could give that a try

Some good recommendations here. Clay works really well for smaller spots. I'd be careful with enamel reducer though as it can soften your paint.
If this looks like a drop of something that has hardened I'd suggest taking a paper towel and wetting it with Dupont Prepsol or Body Solvent and let it sit on the spot for 5 minutes. See if this has softened the spot. If so reapply for another five minutes and see if it dissolves the stuff.

I absolutely agree with Jim on this one, DO NOT use enamel reducer, your paint is ENAMEL, and that is what is used to thin it to spray, and will soften it and even remove it if you get it soft enough. Very reactive.
A quick wipe with it will seem benign, but if you rub and keep it on the paint it WILL break down cured enamel eventually. Often faster than you thought.
Be safe.

Should I use a hair dryer to warm it up a bit ?. Will it damage the paint? Thanks again everybody !
