How do you clean your dashboard without scratching it?
Hey guys, I'm about to do a full cleaning on the car soon, I noticed on my dashboard there's dust accumulating on the plastic.
I once made the mistake on a previous car by using a vacume brush to clean it off....it left it all scratched when the sun hits it at a certain angle..
So i was just wondering what you guys use, should a damp microfiber towel do the trick? or should i use special baby wipes?

Microfiber pad, gloves to protect your hands from the chemicals, and Blackfire/Meguiars/Mother's quick deatiler/interior cleaner.
If it is strictly dust and nothing else, you might want to think about using a california car duster. I have this mini one that I use at stoplights. Feed the OCD!

I've used a clean, wet rag for years and it picks up all dust, dirt, and prints very easily. I don't see how using something dry would fully work, as it would just move the dust around and skip over everything else.
About Armour-all... that was for the 70's and 80's. The idea in modern cars is to have a low-gloss finish, not a shiny one. Plus, Armour-all attracts MAJOR dust. You'd have to clean the dash much more often. Third, you start touching all the greasy areas and that transfers on to the steering wheel leather, breaking it down and also making it slippery to grip. Lastly, Armour-all can break down some of the plastic finish inside. Buttons and such were not designed to be covered with liquids and greasy substances. After a while, they will discolor, fade, or peel. Armour-all gets a big thumbs down in my book. Keep it for the tires.

I'd recommend using either a damp MF towel or Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer (QID). Neither of these will add any gloss to the dash, Gloss on the dash can cause glare and impaired visibility.
UQD has UV protection to prevent premature aging and cracking of the dash, is basically odorless, and provides anti-static dust reduction which the damp MF alone will not do.
I spray the UQD on a MF and wipe. It doesn't streak and doesn't shine but just leaves a new look. I use it on all interior vinyl and coated leather surfaces.

I think he means the cluster cover, which is plastic.
Using a damp microfiber cloth and some quik interior detailer for the smoked plastic cover. For the center console, spray onto the cloth and wipe down.
Never use armorall or turtle wax2001 because they contain silicones and will ruin your dash plastics later on.

You can hold the vacuum tip to the area and take a long soft-bristled paint brush (any soft brush will do) and start brushing the loose dirt and catch it into the vaccum. Then apply the detailer and the shine will last longer.
