Ok, so the wife had a little accident in the civic. She was backing out of our driveway, and my brother pulled up and parked paralell on the sidewalk, with the nose of his car slightly in the driveway. my wife backed into him, though barely at a crawl. she caught his liscense plate frame.
the damage to my car was quoted $329.80. Not bad for a bumper repaint, my question is, how much cheaper would it be if i took the bumper off for them and had them paint to match, give me the bumper back and reinstall it myself? they do great work, they are the same bodyshop that fixed Meghan's matrix when she was sideswiped in our neighborhood by a lady backing out in a minivan...$6,700 worth of damage and the repair was FLAWLESS. (Entire right side needed repaired/replaced, from the front wheel, to the back wheel, rocker panels and door panels).
so the body shop is very reputable, but my other question is: with a paint as hard to match as Honda's Galaxy Grey, would they be able to accurately match it without the car present? they use a computerized laser paint matching system...so they will need the car to get the match as close as possible right?
im just throwing ideas around...i have yet to see the damage, i may be able to buff it out and through some touch up paint on it, but im not sure. Im 350 miles away at the moment.
