Default Removing Excessive Touch Up Paint

Hi,

Was putting some touch up paint on my starfire pearl IS250 from a deep rock chip. I put slightly too much. It's not too bad, but was wondering if there's some kind of compound I can use to remove the excess.

Thanks

I wetsand it with 2k grit. Hit it with a compound and polish smooth.

If you are talking about the "blob" or just excess paint on the surrounding area then this will work. http://www.langka.com/ I have used it before but it does take practice or you might remove the touch up paint you just applied. No big deal, just reapply and do over.

x3. if you do it right, you'll barely be able to tell you had a repair.

I recently got a touch up kit from my Lexus dealer and the new ones have a soft padded top on the paint stick. You apply the touch up paint so that it forms a blob and then 45 mins later you wet the pad on top and gently rub to remove the excess paint, leaving only the paint filling the chip. Then you just dab on the clearcoat. Basically, it does the same job as Langka. I don't know how long Lexus have been doing these new kits because I've never seen them before.

Interesting. I also just purchased a bottle of touch up paint at my local Lexus dealer, and it doesn't have that padded top you've mentioned. It has the usual paint brush, and a pen style tip on the top of the cap.

That's the type they gave me last time but this new idea is really clever - it gently removes the excess paint from the surrounding clearcoat leaving just the right amount in the chip. I suppose dealerships will sell off their old stock first before re-ordering the new stuff from Lexus.
