This also was just talked about a few weeks ago. Here is a link to the thread.

The key is to get to it fast and not let it sit on the paint too long.

Yep, clay will do it.
The elastic or light gray bar will be enough. no need for a heavy/medium cut bar.

the best way to get it off with out hearting the paint is rub rubbing Alcohol on it.the same stuff you put on a cut and know it does not heart the paint or the wax/polish you have on the car. i know it sounds stupid but thats what i did when i use to detail cars.

If the sap is not heavy, clay will do fine. On cars that have a lot of sap and it has baked on I use DuPont's Prepsol or another body solvent. Bear in mind that either option will also remove any wax or sealant.

I used non-acetone fingernail polish remover, and it took the pine sap right off my bumper w/o ruining my paint.
Yes, I know nail polish remover sounds harsh to use on your paint, but it works trust me. A professional detailing place told me to use it, and they said if it ruined my paint, they would pay for my car to get repainted. Well I tried it, and it worked like a charm. The detailing place said hand sanitizer works really well too in removing sap or tar from your car w/o harming the paint.

Living on the Monterey Peninsula, pine sap is a constant problem. What I've found is that if gotten to early, Goof-Off will get most of it off, followed by a Polish/Wax such as Meguiar's. For baked-on sap, I get out the heat gun and CAREFULLY heat the sap, rub with Goof Off, and keep repeating until gone. It's vital to be very careful with the heat gun, as it will blister the clear if too hot.
