Default dye SeatBelts black? How do I do it?????

hello, I have white, vanilla, ecru seatBelts. they are filty and brown and I cannot clean them to original color.

How do I dye just the seatbelts black. no one sits in the back seat so I do not care for the material if absorbs weakens the fiber strenght.

thanks all.

I use to use RIT fabric dye on fabric and threads. I used it in my other car's carpet with success. You should try it a small portion of the seatbelt (pull the belt all the way out and start in there incase something goes wrong).

I've been meaning to dye my carpet black. Mine isn't deep black anymore, which is a given for a 10 year old car.

thanks for the reply GSteg.

I found that RIT brand dye at Walmart and Target. I would like to know, do I have to remove the seatBelts to use this stuff? Can I use the RIT dye while leaving the seatBelts on the car? The reason I ask is b/c I do not know how
to take all four seatBelts out of the car. seems way to difficult for me to do so.

I also went to PepBoys and I came across a DupliColor Brand paint for fabric/plastic/carpet. has anyone use this before?

thanks .....

I never used the paint before but from what I heard, paint dont generally do too well with fabric/carpet.

You can probably do it with the seatbelt on the car..just make sure you dont let the dye touch the seats or any other part of the interior. You may want to try it the seatbelt in the back on the underside first to see how it turns out. Try it in a small area and see how it holds up. I was able to dye carpet just fine, so I dont see why the seatbelts would be an exception.
