I think it depends on the wax. Some wax will get TOO hard if left on too long. Then you will have to work real hard to remove it.

x3.

Some waxes will become VERY difficult to remove if left on too long and are better removed right after application.
Something like exp works very well when applied to the whole vehicle, then you can go back around and remove it all in one shot.

Too much work. Try a product like Optimum Opti-Seal that you put on a thin coat and just walk away. Takes 5-10 minutes to do the whole car.

I use meguiars #26 yellow wax and I apply a moderate layer to the whole car then let it cure and haze up for about a half hour, never have any problems with removal.

A major contributor to hard wax removal is the thickness of the application. Many people apply way too much wax. When this happens and it dries it is difficult to remove. If you have done this here is a tip. Reapply the wax to the area and the solvents in the wax will re-liquify the hardened wax and make it easy to wipe off.

Wax and sealant should be applied so thin that you can barely see the film on the surface. If applied like that you can leave it for a day and it will still come off easily. Any heavier application is just wasted product anyway so make it easy on your self and apply it very thinly with a foam or microfiber covered applicator.

If you prefer having waxes that you can leave on and wipe off after a while, consider getting Rubbish Boys OE. I put it on 2.5 hours ago and the swipe test still gets streaky due to the high carnauba content of the wax lol.

(My friend left it on overnight before and it was still wet )
