Default clear bra removal

i have an 03 rx 300 and it came with the half clear bra on the hood. the line is really noticeable and there are swirls on the actual clear bra. so with that in mind, i was wondering if i could take it off by myself without damaging the paint. i have looked through previous threads and they say just heat it and pull. but it also says that on older cars it may damage the paint. how can i take it off without damaging the paint and what do i need to do after to area that was covered?

cliffs:
will there be any damage to the paint for removing the clear bra by hand?
what do i need to do to the freshly exposed area afterwards?

I would heat it and pull slowly. Probably will leave a residue behind so get some goo gone or tar bug and then I would polish the whole hood and re wax.
