I am Lost, Confused, Frustrated
Can someone tell me what needs to be done to my BLACK ES300?
Well... it's clean, because I have been washing and drying lately but I see this crazy swirls, scratches, watermark all over the car and bird poop that won't wash off(it did but it left a mark which I can't get it off). And I've been reading different posts about detailing and decided to try AGAIN(I already bought PC and Pinnacles XMT series chemicals which I wasn't really satisfied with, or didn't know how to use it correctly). I was thinking...
1.Wash/Dry
2.Clay
3.Compound(not sure if this is neccessary)
4.Polish
5.Wash
Now there are thousands of different products for compound/polish, I just want simplest but effective product. and do I really need COMPOUND? or can I go straight to POLISH? I've seen a post where Polish came off after few weeks which brought those scratches, swirls back. So which product and which pads? Can someone recommend me inexpensive, simple, yet effective products for my car?
Thanks,
Tae

Ok, you have the process correct. I'll touch on the products in a moment.
As for the bird crap. It is possible that you have some etching from the acid in the crap. If it hasnt been there too long, it should polish out. If its been sitting for a looong time, there is a chance that you wont be able to remove it completely, although you should be able to reduce its appearance.
Heres what I'd recommend trying out:
Clay and clay lube. If you need a how-to, just let me know and I"ll give you a rundown on how to do it.

After claying, move to this combo. ssr2.5 on an orange pad. Work at speed 5-6, in relatively small areas. ie: dont try to do the whole hood in one shot.

After you're done w/ that combo, you can move to ssr1 on a white pad. work this at speed 4-4.5.

Then you should be ready to go ahead and wax. If you're looking for an easy to use wax, I'll give you a couple options. Both look awesome on black.

Heres a post from Charles from paintcarendetailing.com (great site for learning from, seeing break down stages, etc. using ssr3 to start, megs dacp (just a medium abrasive polish) and finished with ssr1. I wouldnt suggest using professional polish right after ssr3, you need to step it down in order to remove any hazing. You can use pro polish after ssr1 if you'd like though.
Used - Poorboys SSR3, Meguiars DACP and finished with Poorboys SSR1 - All done with a Porter Cable
