How to get rid of water marks/spots on my obsidian black IS?? As i was washing my car i left it in the garage, but the back of my car was still sticking out and the sun caused it to dry real quick and ONLY the back has water spots. Chris, it was nice meeting you at Ross Dock a few weeks back. I remember telling you my story of the watermarks left on sections of my car after I went to a car wash out of town. Just like with the OP, you recommended that I use vinegar. Looking at this thread reminds that I have to go and set some because I totally forgot about it.

A good quik detailing spray should take them off without removing your wax or sealant. Vinegar will dissolve hard water deposits if they have hardened but will also compromise your protection so be sure to rewax that area if you use vinegar.

I always go over my cars with one of the "gloss enhancing" QD's after washing and drying. It eliminates any missed water spots, adds some additional protection and slickness and leaves the car looking freshly detailed. It only adds another 15 minutes to the process.

There are a few Quick Detailers that are more like spray and wipe sealants.

Zaino Z8, Meguiar's Ultimate QD, or FinishKare 425 are three products that come to mind. These all have polymers that make them quite different than the typical quick detailer you use to clay your car. These leave a gloss and slick finish behind. You could call these wipe on/wipe off gloss enhancers.

Anything wrong with pouring a small amount of water over the spots and wiping it off?

nice meeting you as well! Try this out and see how it works. Its a very cost effective method for new/fresh/light spotting.
