Default Exhaust tip scrape

I apologize if this is not the proper forum for me to ask this question.

Has anyone ever had the bottom of his/her exhaust tips scraped or scratched from high angled curb or parking lot entrance/exit?

I just scraped one of my new shiny exhaust tips and can't seem to figure out a way to get the scratches out. Is there any conventional off the counter product that I may try to at least get rid of some of the scratch marks?

Thanks in advance!

Jon

I dont think you'll see many otc polishes that'll remove scrapes from metal. It'll probably have to be done professionally if its even worth it. How deep are they?
To remove a scratch, you have to essentially level out the surrounding area to make the scratch less noticeable or invisible. again, something that a metal polish just wont do.

If it's a dull finish stainless steel tip, you could grind it and polish it with finer and finer grits until it smooths out. It it's chrome plated steel, then you'll have to grind and polish it smooth, and have it re-plated. Might still be worth it if the plating shop can throw it in a production batch in exchange for a six pack.

Thanks for your help, guys.

The scratches are definitely not hair line like fine scratches, as the parking lot exit was so steep that I literally lightly "rubbed" or "dragged" my exhaust tip when I exited the parking lot.

Fortunately, my exhaust tips are still perfectly aligned but when you look at the damage, you can literally see a few thin black lines down to the metal surface.

Other than buying a new exhaust tip, I guess I am out of luck?

yea, I think so man You can probably buy new tips and have them welded on though as opposed to buying a whole new section.
