Default Keyed- need advice

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=393137

My car got keyed the other day and I need a way to temporary protect the sheet metal since the estimated turn over time for the repaint is 7-10 working days and I am not old enough for a loaner car, so I will have to do it around new years.

Since you're going to repaint it anyway, get a small bottle of matching touchup paint and carefully apply it to the scratch. It shouldn't cost more than a couple of bucks. Hopefully, the idiot didn't key it too much.

Will this affect any insurance claims if i touch up the paint? The damage is substantial; the front bumper keyed multiple places, the hood keyed multiple places, the left side has one line keyed down and the rear right side. All key marks are down to the metal.

Did you already file a claim with your insurance and they've given the go-ahead to repaint?

I think if you touch it up yourself and the claim isn't finalized it could affect it.

no the claim isn't finalized. I do not want to jeopardize it since its estimate to be $4200-$5800 to repaint.

Don't touch a thing until the insurance adjuster has seen it and approved the repair!

x3 - Nothing worth worrying about can happen in a couple months Even if it rusts it will only be surface rust and will come off easy. Once you claim is approved hit it with touch up paint like suggested above.
