Unhappy Question -- Hard Water Spots?

Hello!

I'm relatively new to these forums, I just happened to buy my 02 Lexus ES300.

I presume the dealership washed my car wrong or its been there for awhile, but I have a problem.

There are what appears to be hard water spots/stains (?) on my rear windshield and mirrors. They look like waterspots, but I cannot smudge them or get rid of them.

I wish I could show you a picture, I'll see if I can get one up. Its not visible during the day, but at night when lights are shining on it, it looks ugly and creates a glare I do not like!

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I think theres another thread on the same topic a little further down the page. Anyway, I would recommend that you start w/ a vinegar wash. This can help to remove the calcium deposits left behind, which sometimes result in the water spots. If that doesnt do it, you can go to a paint cleaner such as p21s paintwork cleansing lotion. http://www.glimmerglassdetailing.com/p2pacl.html Apply using a ccs hand applicator: http://www.glimmerglassdetailing.com/ccswhfoandep.html

If this doesnt do it, move to a more abrasive polish and stronger applicator pad (org ccs or microfiber).

If you havent done a full detail yet, this might be a good time. You can clay first, which doesnt take too long and makes a pronounced difference in finish and feel! If you do, I'd suggest going w/ either the elastic clay or 200g gray bar paired w/ Luber as your clay lube.

I think if you'll see an improvement in the spots and especially overall finish if you go through these steps.

A full detail would be:

Wash
Clay
ReWash (to remove clay residue)
Polish (using the p21s paintwork cleanser as mentioned above)
Wax
