Default foggy Yellow oxidized headlights. Use ketchup??

If the yellow on headlamps = oxidation

and ketchup = antioxidant

will ketchup remove the yellow?

I know tomato sauce and ketchup can make browned metal pots look shiny and new again.

I wonder if this will work. It would be the least abrasive solution for yellow headlights. But you'd probably have to smear the ketchup on the headlamps and let it sit for 12 hours.

anyone wanna experiment with this on an old car?

Hmmmmm. Never heard of it being used for polish.

If you really don't want to get some plastic polish or paint polish you can try metal polish or tooth paste.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to try and use the ketchup.

Although I doubt it'll do anything...it's a pretty interesting idea. Why not just try it with orange slices or something? ketchup seems a bit extreme. I'm afraid it will dry up and be a pain to clean up

Toothpaste has been proven in the past. I prefer to use one of my polishes now since I tossed my PlastX, which also worked

plastX doesn't work for me.

the vinegar in ketchup combines with oxide on copper and rust, and washes away.

ketchup might stain. so one could use vinegar paste, or even mayonaisse.

Some people say Brasso works well, but i would like to know if a one-time application and subsequent waxing would prevent it from turning yellow again.

There's gotta be some secret natural formula that can remove headlight oxidation like that overpriced Pittman ALR, which just wipes off the yellow without sanding or scrubbing

heheh

i also found Krylon UV-resistant clear coat spray on the web.

it's an acrylic coating that is flexible and won't chip or crack.

if i had to sand my headlamps, I'd try this clear coat spray. $5 a can!

That Pittman shit is overpriced hype, with their videos plastered all over Youtube. Because of it's high price, I want to find a super cheap alternative that doesn't involve sanding

I just use Blue Magic Alloy Polish; it lasts me about 6 months.

I would suggest applying a sealant to the lense to help protect from UV rays which will eventually cause the yellowing again. An optically clear sealant like OptiSeal would be my recommendation.

Some waxes can cause plastics and clear bras to yellow. And some waxes dont provide UV protection. So use a sealant or a wax that has been proven not to cause yellowing and actually provides UV protection.

You just might have something there,
I have had salads with less ingredients.
When you figure out a formula post it so we all can make our own headlight dressing.
You should make a "light" version.
Add a little "tire dressing" on the side and you got your self a meal.
Yes I agree there is a natural formula that will remove oxidation without sanding, But it's no secret, its called Money!
