If they're new, apply a couple coats of wheel sealant to them. This should be all they need at this point.

how bout if the wheel has already lost it's smooth texture? it still shines like a good polish but it isn't as smooth to the touch as when i first got it.

Go over them with a light clay bar like Mothers, Sonus green, or Pinnacle poly, then polish them.

You can try to clay them, or, you can also try a metal polish on them if they're not clearcoated.

you'd apply the sealant about as often as you normally wax the vehicle. They may require polishing once in a while, but hte sealant will make cleanings signficantly easier which will, idealy, in turn, require you to polish less often.

A lot of times you can see the clear coat. Otherwise, rub some metal polish on them, if the applicator turns black then you're good to go. If it doesnt than they are clear coated.

for the poorboys wheel sealant, works great and easy to apply and cuts down on the amount of times to polish. Now I only have to polish about once every 6 - 8 weeks.

Another endorsement for PB's wheel sealant, great stuff. I have the chrome wheels off my truck and waiting in the garage for their winter cleaning and sealing. I'll wash them with some soap and water, run the green sonus clay over them and seal them with PB's, a couple coats and they are as good as new.

Any quality paint sealant will do the same thing as PB wheel sealant.
