it will tell you how much paint you have left, it can tell you if the car is consistent all around.
Dealers use it to check if the car was resprayed.
Detailers use it to see how much clear is left before and after paint correction, its a great tool, if you have to wetsand a car or compound it you don't want to take the clear off or burn the paint.
You would know or have a better estimate of what you are doing.
