Default How to remove bird deposit residue?

All,
I got some bird craps on the side of my car and didn't clean it off in time. Finally got around to it last weekend. I washed the car and buff the area with 3M rubbing compound. Most of it came off. However, there's still a faint mark (or cloud) there. I rubbed the area several times but couldn't remove it.
Is there anything that you would recommend?
Some people at work said to try WD-40. What do you think?
Thanks.

If you've already rubbed it with rubbing compound, it's not "residue", the acids in the crap have reacted and etched into whatever you are seeing.

if you had a serious durable wax product, *maybe* it's still on a couple sacrificial layers of wax. But given what you said, it is likely your clear coat or paint that has been damaged.

You'll have to decide if you want to remove a layer of that material (different techniques avail) or just live with it.

If there's one thing I can't tolerate it's letting bird do-do sit on my car for ANY length of time. If you do let it sit there without cleaning it off as soon as humanly possible, this is usually the result.

I think it's etched on to the clear coat or the paint. Could you elaborate on different techniques?

Can you explain more? I have never wet sanded my paint and am afraid of doing it. It would help if you can point me to the exact products that I need to accomplish this task.

Personally I dont like the idea of wetsanding if you dont use a machine to polish it out but I would try with the least aggressive paper first (3000 grit) and spray it with detailer and sand in one direction with a block for an even sand. if it is still in the paint move to the next aggressive level and so on. By hand I guess you could use M105 (Meguiars) and some elbow grease to remove the sanding scratches.

Good luck but if you are not confident I would take it to a local detailer.

Default Scratch Doctor did the trick

All,
I was able to get it off my paint using Scratch Doctor by Nufinish. I'm stoked!
Thanks for all the responses and pm.
