I have used this since both of our vehicles were new and it works great - no issues.

My wife's X5 is black and has very minimal scratches from washing, if any. As with all things - use common sense when using - 2 wash buckets, never drop on the ground and don't push hard into the paint.

i just use a MF mitt and a nice meguiar's sponge

I have heard natural wool mits are good and should not have any swirl/scratching issues if you are careful but they are a bit expensive and I have read where they recommend you replace them after a year or so as they degrade or don't work like they should after a while.
