Default An Automatic Car Wash w/o Metal Wheel Guides

First off, I do most of my car washing at home but there can be times where I feel lazy and just wanna roll my car through a auto car wash. I've mentioned here about a new car wash that opened up in my area which is very modern. I learned today from the owner that the wheel guides where the vehicles' wheels roll through are not metal. Instead they are made of some sort of plastic material and I was assured that my rims will not be scratched. I spoke to the owner after I opted to use the touchless wash so my car did not roll through the regular car wash. So has anyone used an auto car wash that does not have metal wheel guides? My car is lowered with low-profile tires on my rims.

In my experience they can still scratch your rims. I used a car wash that sports the same equipment a few times. The next time I had my car on a lift for an oil change I noticed that while the outside lip was unscathed, the left rear inner lip was scratched up pretty good. I figured it was only a matter of time until the front lip is scratched. I now go to Mimi's autospa on p.c.h near rolling hills plaza. They are great!

With this little of replies I take it that most of you solely do your washing by hand and I don't blame you at all. I'll stay doing that and forget the auto wash.

keep using the touchless wash. If i can't do it myself, that is the choice!
