Default More on leather...

I've noticed over the years applying leather cleaners or treatments always seems to help at first, but after a few weeks the surface ends up looking worse than before. It's made me think one is doing more damage than good by applying these things. Because of this, I've chosen to simply clean my seats once a week with a clean, damp towel. This works well for about four years, then slight cracking begins- even with the seats clean.
Having said the above, are there any protectants that actual HELP and not hurt the leather in the longrun? I think MaGuires was what I last used. But like I said, just about every product I've tried in the last 20 years seems to help initially then dry out and crack a few weeks later. I also do not want any product that looks shiny or feel greasy. Certainly there must be someone out there with a four year old car that has new-looking leather. I want to do what this person does, if such a situation even exists (I've never seen it).
TIA

Believe it or not I stopped using the Meguiar's Leather cleaner and conditioner. It looked good at first but I noticed that after using it a couple of times in the past year and a half it's made my leather hard and oily looking. So as soon as I get a chance I'm going to give Leatherique or Leather Masters a try. No more oily leather cleaners and conditioners, they're no good. I'll try to post results, although my busy schedule almost impairs all my side projects lol
