Default Using WD-40 on wheel wells?

Use of the Day: Spray inside wheel wells on automobiles to keep road tar and other debris from sticking.
This was given was given to me on facebook and I was wondering if it held any water (pun intended). has anyone tried this or can think of any way this could do more harm than good? or maybe even suggest something that does the same thing just as well so I could compare the two. haha.

I've done this before to keep them looking clean and black. Never noticed any side effects. Don't know if there's any potential negatives but I bet someone will have a better answer.

I've used old tire gel I didn't like on the tires for them as well, seems to do the job too.

I cant really think of any negative side effects.

A wheel well dressing that would act in a similar fashion would be Chemical Guys' Bare Bones. Does a fantastic job of darkening the appearance and helps to prevent stuff from sticking and building up.

The biggest downfall to using WD-40 in the wheel wells is that the oil does not dry, and when you drive over any dirt, it sticks to the wheel wells more. I use armor-all, Poorboys Bold and Bright, or anything else I have on hand that is inexpensive and a water based dressing.

How about this: http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...C+35+ounces.do
I have used their products before and have had good luck with them.

I wouldn't want to spray WD-40 in my wheel well. I rather go with any of the products mentioned thus far.

I was watching an episode of Trucks and the host had mentioned using WD-40 as a way to prevent mud from sticking to the liners. Never tested in myself. I say try it.
