Used Griot's Products Today - Nice stuff
I decided to try out some Griot's Garage Machine Polish #3 and then their "Best in Show" Wax. First I stripped off the existing Megiurs Gold Class that I had used previously. I used a strong solution of dishwashing liquid and hot water. Did it a few times until water sheeted rather than beaded to be sure the wax was off. After drying, my paint was quite dull and full of swirls, scratches etc....
I then used my orbital with the #3 machine polish and what a great job it did in bringing back the finish. Swirls, scratches etc.. are gone. Changed the bonnet and applied the "Best in Show" wax to protect the finish. If you get this wax make sure you do a small area at a time as it sets up fast and can get hard to remove if you wait too long.
This car now looks better than new. I took some photos and will develop and scan them to post. Bottom line is this is the best combination I have ever used in my 30+ years of being a car nut.

I get the Griots Garage catalog sent to me periodically and have been tempted to try some of the stuff out....
Glad to hear of the good results. I think I'll go check that catalog again....

Here's some pics of the "after". I do not have any of the "before" but this is much improved. I had to do some serious cropping to get this to fit under the bit limit.

Hi Sasha,
Since I have well water with high magnesium my car gets a white film and water spots on it if I don't dry immediately. Don't laugh (my wife does), I use a leaf blower to get most of the water off. Then I use a thick cotton towel and spread it over the surface and then pull it slowly across to get the balance of the moisture. Then a quick buffing with another towel and I'm done.
Regarding the swirls etc, they are completely gone. This Griot's No. 3 polish is great. The "Best in Class" wax is also great. It's expensive but as they say...

i also get that stupid film it drives me nuts! thats why i asked!!!
thanks man that is actually a really good idea!
this film has drivin me so crazy that i now do one of the two things:
1) go to a machine wash, dry it there and then polish and detail at home
2) wash one panel at a time (real pain in the ***)

why would we laugh about a leaf blower?
That's actually a very good way to quickly and safely dry off your car, as any visitor to www.autopia-carport.com will tell you.
For those that have never visited there, that is a forum (similar to this one) where the subject is detailing cars, and those guys are HARD-CORE!

Murph,
Nice ride, I understand the satisfaction received from shining up a car, it's alot of sweat and sore muscles, but you can't beat that feeling at the end, smoooother than a baby's butt
How was griot's turn around time on shipping the products out?
