Default restoring interior vinyl.

Hey Guys,
Is there any product out there that can restore faded interior vinyl? Or is the only option to have the interior re-dyed?

thanks
Adam

A bit more detail and a photo of what you are dealing with would help.

I have been very pleased with Meg's #39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner and #40 Vinyl and rubber conditioner products. That cleaner, #39, is absolutely the best I've ever used.

If you want something OTC, you can try their Natural Shine product for a low sheen or their Superior Shine product for more of a glossy luster. If this is for your dash, consider a low luster product to reduce glare.

I just recently purchased a RX that has been always been in the sun and the vinyl in the interior is starting to fade.

do you think it can bring back orginal color, or do you think I will have to have it repainted?

You probably need to consider this a two step operation. The first is to clean the vinyl. This will restore the color by removing dirt and oxidation. Try an APC 4:1 or Meg's #39 first to clean then follow with a dressing.

A dressing will restore the luster and the depth of color. That depth and luster depends on which product you use. For the deepest color and highest luster I'd use Supreme Shine, for a more natural look with less sheen, I'd suggest trying Natural Shine. For the least shine and glare and most protection, I'd suggest Meg's #40. All three will give a different look to your vinyl. 303 Aerospace Protectant would fall somewhere in between Natural Shine and #40 in appearance.

Apply evenly with a foam applicator and lightly buff with a microfiber

As I mentioned earlier you probably want to keep the glare down on your dash so choose the product with that in mind.

When selecting a vinyl dressing it also is a good idea to choose one that doesn't outgas in the heat or your windows will develop a vinyl film in a matter of a few days. Some of the cheap products are quite bad in this regard.
