Default got keyed. what do i do?

...yeah.. i never thought i'd be a victim of a keying. but i happened. i left my car in front of my girlfriends house and came back to it at night with an X keyed into the passenger side quarter panel. it doesn't seem to go into the bare metal; it's just white lines so i'm hoping its just the clearcoat. this is my first time trying to buff out keyings. can anyone tell me the process?

Haha, I just sent you a PM too. Like I said there, come to the meet and I'll help you find the right process to fix this. My RX had a similar issue and I fixed it perfectly but it took some time

Interesting... I would like to know myself. My first car was a 1995 Black Acura Legend Sedan. I loved the car so much one day it was parked at the college. I came out and there was a long key line on my fender. It was one of those bad days. =\

If you can feel it with your fingernail, unfortunately you're not going to be able to buff it out. If it's only into the clearcoat, there's a good chance it could be wet-sanded, but it'd be best to leave it to a professional -- it's very easy to wet sand right into the basecoat (don't ask how I know )

Otherwise, it may need to be resprayed.

Good luck... why people have to do such things is beyond me.

^^Not necessarily. A pro should have no problem using a touch up pen, wet sanding it to blend it in, then buffing it to come out. It just depends on the skill of the person doing it thats all

Very sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, if the paint has been taken down to the bare metal, nothing short of a repaint will ever make it perfect. The good news is that your insurance should be able to cover this and not ding you. Check with your agent. Don't worry though. As much as this event sucks, in a few days your car will be back to normal. To this day I never understand why people key cars...it's the dumbest form of jealousy or revenge
