Default Heavy Duty Carpet Winter Protection

OK all you OCD guys like me. Here is my latest invention in carpet protection for this blizzard of a winter. Contractor garbage bag cut open and taped to the door jamb painted areas with wrestling mat tape. Here is the photo and here is where to get the tape (that won't pull off the paint..it's more like a "Colorforms" friction adherence). Been installed for two nasty weeks now and is working well.

The Extreme-duty Floorliners are made from a patent pending High Density Tri-Extruded (HDTE) material which offers a rigid core for strength and increased surface friction to prevent movement on top of the vehicle's carpet.

Each FloorLiner channels fluids and debris to a lower reservoir to minimize fluid movement while driving (Patent Pending)! Once trapped in the reservoir - away from shoes and clothing, fluids are easily removed from the tray over the rocker panel ... no muss - no fuss!

In our opinion, these are the finest, exact-fit, floor mats in the industry!

Looking for one is a call away at ProperAutoCare.

Nope. I have that for my daughter's Honda CR-V and the "schmootz" (dirt/heavy snow & ice)) still gets into the side areas and drips underneath. Not as good as my device.

i never tried your idea so i cant say it does or doesnt work, but what if the bag rips? also, if you are not careful removing the bag, you may get all the debris in you car anyway. and lastly, your way is simply unappealing to the eye. while i would love to protect the interior of my car, i would still like it to look, well, like a car. the garbage bag cheapens the look of the car imo. now are the floor-liners the way to go? i couldnt really say, but i am sure your way certainly cost less. in the end, to each his own, but thanks for sharing

The look is not a big deal as only the driver really sees it. And winter is so nasty on the look anyway. Bag has not ripped at all in 2 weeks of the most punishing weather. Note I have the Lexus winter mat in there to catch the big stuff that evaporates before the bag gets mire than minimally wet. I do agree that it's not for everyone however.

UPDATE MARCH 24, 2010: I probably am tempting the late snow gods, but yesterday I took out my contraption. It was AMAZING. The wrestling-mat tape worked PERFECTLY and clung completely thru one of the worst winters in Pittsburgh in my 50 year lifetime. It peeled right off like COLORFORMS with no damage to the paint, the clearcoat and no residual stickiness. The entire foot area is like new. I will DEFINITELY do this again next winter for this and my wife's RX330 (which now needs some SERIOUS shampooing etc etc). You guys may laugh, but in the real snow belt there is nothing else like this and it's CHEAP and EASY. Perhaps a bit silly looking for a few months, but IT WORKED!
