"Kevin Brown" Method is limited to Meguiars at the moment. The "eyezack87" Method that was never published but was used before the KB Method came out can be done with any polish similar to M105. I used Menzerna Powergloss. Imagine how famous I'd be if I actually told people what I was doing lol...

Default Reference info

I think the thing that makes the KB method so effective, as effective as a rotary in many cases, is the new "SMAT" polishes. SMAT stands for Super Micro Abrasive Technology. This differs substantially from the older abrasive polishes that would beak down to finer and finer particles as you worked it. SMAT does not break down. Here is a graphic that shows the difference in abrasives.
When a diminishing abrasive technology polish is worked over time it breaks down and becomes finer and finer, not always in a completely uniform manner but still a good technique that gives good results. With SMAT the polish starts tiny and stays cutting at that size as long as you work it.

When used with the KB method, I can get the same or even better results than I could with my Makita 9227c rotary using conventional diminishing abrasive polishes, in the same time frame. In fact, since I started using the SMAT polishes with my DA, I've not used my rotary. Meguiar's pioneered the SMAT polishes. I'm not aware of other brands and their abrasive technology so there may be SMAT products from others at this point but I'm only familiar with the Meguiar's line. Some SMAT products include SwirlX, ScratchX 2.0 Ultimate Compound, Polishing Compound and Rubbing Compound in their consumer line, #105 Ultra Cut Compound, #205 Ultra Finishing Polish in their Professional line and D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream in their Detailer line.

Here is a link to some additional KB Method info.
