Interesting...I just bought a touch up pen/brush from Sewell and the directions said to apply a couple coats then wait 24hrs and apply clear coat. So, this is saying that the Toyota/Lexus pens don't have clear mixed in? Do you or anyone know what type of clear coat paint Toyota/Lexus use? What type should I get to apply over the OEM touch up paint?

So, I went to my local Toyota dealership and they told me that you really don't need to apply clear coat. It's just an option on touch up work. They do sale clear coat touch up paint though but it's not necessary and it takes a bit more work when applying it. With that, I'm not dealing with the clear coat stuff. =)

With my experimentations on my old paint pens, it didn't oxidize when left with no wax. Might be a super strong mix of paint but as long as you wax your car it should be fine with no clear. Eventually after 4 months on a junk trunk in my backyard, I threw away the trunk haha
