Default what products?

as the title suggests, i am in need of a few suggestions in the detailing department. i have been reading this forum and there has been a ton of helpfull info. i plan on taking a day to do my car, and am in need of a few product suggestions. i will be claying my car with a medium bar (i may have a fine also). what products should i use once i have finished claying? most of what i have read is recommended for mechanical application. i will be applying by hand. my car is an 06, and i do not believe that it has ever been clayed, so i know that i have my work cut out. when i last detailed a car, 10 years ago, the process was wash, clay, wash, compound, polish, polymer/seal, and wax if preferred. i would assume that the process is still the same, though the products have changed? any recommendations would be much appreciated. i plan on taking as much of the day as necessary for the exterior detail. thanks in advance

Invest in a GG (Griot's Garage) machine (Best bang for the buck) and save yourself LOTS of time and hard work.

thanks, but that is not in the budget at the moment. i will pick one up eventually though. headers just came out for the 3gs, so that has priority at the moment. lol.
looking more for recommendations of brands/products to use by hand, and what steps to take from claying to finish.

I fully understand about what is priority!

I have found that Meguiars (Meg) Ultimate Compound is a great OTC product that will take out defects/swirl. After polishing you can use Meg #21 or OTC - Meg NTX Tech 2.0 sealants. These products are very reasonable and will hold you over until you get a machine.
