Finally got around to washing the wifes IS350, it had been a week or so. Anyway while washing I noticed a rather large rock chip and few small scrapes nearby it. Boy was I ticked!
The chip is well beneath the paint and clearcoat. It was heavy enough to put an indentation in the hood also. The main main is about 1/2 the size of a dime.
My question to all of you, what options due I have and if I take it in to a shop what will they do and how do you think it will turn out?
Sorry for the crummy pics, I am obviously not very steady![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Your main concern right now is rust as the chip looks to be at bare metal. I'd get some touch up paint and an artist's fine point brush. Simply build the base coat, that's the color, back up in layers. Remember, several thin coats are better than one big blob of paint. Allow at least 24 hours between each layer. Then, apply some clear to the area an you're done. This is assuming the paint comes in a 2-step package. Some touch up paints have the base and clear mixed...then you simply follow the first part. It's not going to look perfect, but it should be less noticeable and you don't have to worry about rust. Hope this helps.

Moe,
Thanks for the reply. I had attempted that process followed with some wet sanding in a more less obvious area on a different vehicle and I was not very pleased. I already stopped by a local body shop(know the owner) and he suggested a dent doctor place for the indentations then he can air touch up the chips for like $50. This sounds better than what I can do
