Anyone have any opinions on what's better for an 07 GS350 in Obsidian black? Z-2 or Z-3? I searched the forums and it seems that obsidian is NOT clear coated, right? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyone have experience using either the Z-2 or Z-3 (or both) and which do you think is better for this paint/color?...

As far as I remember the Obsidian black color in the early years is a single stage paint till 08 I think. You can use what you have or try Blackfire Wet Diamond on it, because it will pop like crazy on that color.

 

As I quoted in Zaino thread...I would go with Z-5 with zfx used in conjunction.. Everything that I've seen states the obsidian color does have clear coat application. I would place call to Lexus body shop to verify.

 

Checked with Lexus of Austin, it is clear coated.

 

I use Z-2 (w/ EFX) folowed by Z-5 (w? EFX). I usually get about 2-3 layers of each.
