rubbing alcohol... seriously, i debadged my car the other week, and this got off the old 3m quickly.

Other suggestions would be goo-gone, or lighter fluid [butane]

I would probably stay away from anything much harsher than rubbing alcohol. That seems like your best bet with a little elbow grease

3m adhesive remover is good also goo gone if none of those can be found you can also use wd-40(spray it on a cloth ) and use "some elbow grease " like skyspydude said...

How effective is goo-gone? I've heard mixed reviews about it. Lots of people say it takes way too long to remove residue with it. Where can you get the 3M adhesive remover? Is that something strictly sold online or do hardware stores carry it like Ace/Home-Depot, Menards, etc. ?

If you use Goo-Gone then you need to let it sit for a few minutes on the adhesive to allow it to dissolve some of the adhesive. Some people put it on then wipe it off to no avail.

yes... goo gone is great. I put it on hardened tree sap let it sit for about 5 seconds added a bit more then tried to slightly scrape off with my thumb nail. little by little the chips of tree sap came off. then finally the whole chunk came off, leaving my paint unscathed.

Goo-Gone or 3M Wax and Adhesive remover are going to be your two best bets, IME.

I used "Goof-off" last weekend while I was removing a sticker that left behind some serious residue. It cut through it like it was nothing. I tried WD-40 first and it didn't do anything at all.
