Any advice to get rust off of steel (without sandblasting)?

Default Any advice to get rust off of steel (without sandblasting)?

My friend has a Jeep with some skid plate type things on the side of it. He want's to clean up the Jeep. They have rust on them and such. Any advise for removing the rust cleanly?

That would be Diamond Plate Chrome.

Hot Soapy water and aluminum foil.


Fill a spray bottle with water 3/4 way. then fill the last 1/4 with plain old DAWN dish soap.

Shake, Spray on the affected area, ball up the foil and rub it on the rust. Rinse and repeat until its all clean. You will need alot of foil for alot of rust, because it degrades the foil fairly fast.

how about coca cola and foil? I heard the phosphoric acid in it will dissolve rust. I think it will even dissolve an iron nail if you leave it in there long enough
