Default Wife took car to "detailer" -- interior now smells like a taxi cab! How to fix?

My wife was trying to be nice. For an early Father's Day gift, she took the car to some guy who called himself a "detailer." The interior now smells like a New York City cab. And when I say "smells," it is OVERPOWERING like gag-inducing.

How in the world can I get this smell out of the car?

You can try the ozone generator, it works well.

We first clean/ shampoo the interior in order to reduce the pollutants causing the
smell (for example cigarette smell) then we put on the ozone generator to 'kill'
the bacteria.

I think Todd and Nick would be able to help you out more, as they are professionals.

I just have a small detailing shop on the side, basically learning as the situation arises at the shop.

steam the interior (carpets, headliner, and seats). Then use a deodorizer or fogger. Feel free to add your favorite smelling scents afterwards to top it off

Sorry to hear this JohnnyCake, these things do happen when a person who has no right to be doing this just cause more problems then good. You will have to get the interior clean again the right way and then use a ozone generator to clean the air in there. Where in DC are you?

you can try the ozone machine first but the shop should really correct it.

you can try using baking soda, let it soak and vacuum it up. might require a few times though.
