I'm going to guess brake dust stain. If it is, try a product called "Never Dull" http://www.nevrdull.com/index.html Local Walmart might have it in stock.

Try Mothers chrome polish. IMO it cleans really well, used it on winter salt stains for customer's cars and it turned out great.

i would try some mothers chrome polish and some #0000 steelwool at lowes.i bet it will remove that stain.the steel wool will not scratch your wheels.it can be used on your mirrors to get water spots off with the chrome polish.

that is a stain from the use of an acidic wheel cleaner. that will not come off unless you polish them with a product like what angelo recomended. Also...get an acid free wheel cleaner like Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner, Sonax Wheel Cleaner or Chemical Guys Diablo Wheel Gel.

i'd try some iron cut on it... i think it is made by Aquartz, but i could have sworn i saw Phil use it on one of his details...

I agree that it is probably from the wheel cleaner that someone used.

it may also be that a dog found your (hot) wheel to be more appealing then a fire hydrant.

Try Flitz in a paste form.
It does a great job in cleaning things up. It is non abrasive and even works with Plexiglass.
Remember, always start with the least invasive methods. If it doesn't work, take steps up to more aggressive solution. Good luck!!!

I typically clean with the SONAX Wheel Cleaner Full Effect, which is a very strong yet totally safe cleaner. If that doesn't work try a metal polish like the Optimum Metal Polish or the deep cleaning P21S Finish Restorer. If you have any other questions please let me know.
