I know this may seem very trivial, but what are the secrets for getting tires to have showroom shine. I see some cars where the tires look as if they're wet, and others not as good. There has to be a secret because I've tried several brands thats supposely "showroom new look" and is usually dissappointed. Any suggestions?

It really depends on the tire though. Initially Michelin's shine the best but no products seem to last very long on them. My Bridgestone's hold a decent shine.

You have to make sure you thoroughly clean and degrease the tires before application of a dressing.

I use Meguiars Gold Class Endurance Spray, Meguiars Hot Rims Tire Gel. There are other professional products but they are just a bit too expensive for my tastes.

It also depends if the product is silicon based or water based. Meguiars Hyper Dressing is a very popular product too.

None of those products have any sling. I suggest applying with a clean foam applicator or pad.

 

The TUF SHINE Tire Appearance Kit is your answer. It helps first clean the tire which is critical and after the second product applies a semi-permanent coating that looks amazing. Two coats gives you a glossy look and three coats provides you an overly glossy look that demands your attention.

the key or secret to tires will be a clean surface.

you want to use a good brush and good all purpose cleaner to clean the tires.
you can clean them to almost new like condition.

then put a quality tire dressing on.

I've had pretty good luck with a product made my Turtle Wax. I don't remember the name, Tire Gel or something like that. It comes in an orange bottle that stores upside down, like a ketchup bottle. You apply the gel with an enclosed sponge. The only problem is it doesn't last long, maybe a week.

 

also the cheaper the quality of the compounds used to make the tire make the tire not "hold" the synthetic shine.

 

I have the same stuff. I believe it's armorall.

Only problem is, it slings.

 

After trying water based tire dressing.... I have no intention of EVER using oil based tire spray again.

My current tire dressing is Optimum Opti-Bond diluted 1:1...before that I used 303 Aerospace. Both are great products and leave a similar matte/semi matte finish depending on the dilution. Optibond is a gel whereas the 303 is a spray.

 

From what I've heard, TUF Shine is really good. I plan on picking some up soon to try it myself.

I'm not a big fan of the oil/silicone based tire shines since they sling. Water based products are usually the best way to go.

 

get the new enduranced series gel from meguiars. works amazingly well. dries quick. great shine. no sling!

The Endurance Gold Class dressing from Meguiars is what I've been using for a couple of years now but I'm looking at give TUF Shine a try soon.

 

I'm currently using Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Gel. It goes on with a sponge applicator. The shine is not as shiney as Armorall Tire Gel and doesn't seem to last long (less than a week) at all. Pass on this stuff. I'm going to use it up quickly and try something else.
