Default Vinyl Paint

Hi All,

My driver seat's leather seems very different from the passenger seat such that it is shiny and has a much harder feel than the supple soft leather that is in the back seat or on passenger seat.

I am afraid that previous owner must have vinyl spray repaired the leather, and i was wondering what would happen if i leatherique this?

Will my seats turn to mush or go back to the extremely shxty condition (which i am assuming he had as it seems to be the 80% of the seat with resprary).

Not uncommon for the driver seat and bolsters to show wear, especially if the seats were not cleaned regularly. Dust and dirt is like sandpaper when you enter and slide into the car. I'd bet that the shiny look is due to this wear.

I'd try a thorough cleaning with LM Strong Leather Cleaner, follow with LM Vital Leather Conditioner and then seal with LM Protection cream. That should leave it as close to original as is possible.

thanks jfelbab. I just want to get as many opinions as possible cause whatever i order except maybe zymol, will have to be ordered from amazon and shipped ($50) to Hong Kong.

Want to get the best thing possible for this and just get the seat back to decent condition.

Hi Roach. The shiny appearance is oil, lotion, sweat, dirt, gunk you name it which accumulated over years of use and got rubbed into the pores of your leather. Those leather cleaner specIalise for auto use are too mild and I'm positive that you won't get the results. I won't mention what to use here cuz I don't want to get bombarded with comments this and that for using a slightly stronger but more effective solution. You need to do it right bro. I detail for fun and $. Pm me if you need anything. Good luck!

Thanks for the pics Roach. I see what you saying now. Your driver's seat had actually been shop repaired/restored. Looks like the previous owner didn't take care of his seat so well..... anyways, at this point, options are available but limited.::

1) Go to a any high end upholstery shop and see if they can take that off and refinish with higher end products. They'll still feel different unless you want all your interior leather redone.

2)Go to Lexus/Crown HK and ask which upholstery shop they use to match their leather. All dealerships have their own specific ones. Have the affected area replaced with new skin.

3)Buy a new seat!

1 being the cheapest way and 3 being the most costly. I'd be leaning more towards #2 option. Let me know if you have more questions. Good luck Roach!

I think buy a new seat is the good option for you.
